WINTER TRAINS GO ON SALE ON 15 OCTOBER ‘08
From Wednesday 15 October ‘08, French trains operating on the new winter
timetable will go on sale. The timetables change from summer to winter
schedules on Sunday 14 December and from 15 October, travel on French trains
can be booked between 14 December ‘08 and 15 January ‘09.
French and many other European trains can be booked a maximum of 90 days in
advance of travel, so passengers wishing to book travel on 1 February ‘09
for example would need to wait until 3 November 08 for tickets for this
date to come on sale.
The winter timetables offer increased services to popular ski resorts on
both day and overnight services, meaning that winter sports fans can travel
to the slopes with a clearer carbon conscience, knowing that the train is
one of the greenest ways to travel.
From Thursday 6 November 2008 it will be possible to book French trains for
travel between 6 February 2009 and 9 March 2009 – an extended 120 day
booking horizon – which covers the half term holiday period for most UK
schools.
By booking early, rail travellers are able to secure the lowest cost ‘Prem’
fares, which can see journeys from Paris to Nice for example costing as
little as £19.00 one way.
